Email sent to His Excellency Mr Chandra Kumar Ghimire, Nepalese Ambassador to the UK, on 15/9/25:
Your Excellency,
As friends of Nepal we in the Britain-Nepal Society and BRANNGO have been shocked by the recent disturbances in Nepal, and particular saddened by the violence that caused the deaths of several people and serious injuries to many more. We hope that your family and friends there, and those of all your staff at the Embassy, have remained safe and well.
It is reassuring that the Nepalese Army has restored some stability and we very much hope that under the interim Prime Minister, Mrs Sushila Karki, there will be peaceful progress towards the election of a new government early next year. In the meantime we shall of course continue to demonstrate our affection and good wishes towards Nepal and its people by doing all we can to help those in need.
Yours sincerely,
Nick Hinton
Chairman BNS, BRANNGO and BNCT
Reply from His Excellency 16/9/25:
Dear Mr. Hinton,
Good afternoon and namaste.
Thank you very much for your email and the words of affection and compassion.
I am pleased to inform you that our family members and friends are safe. The Nepal Army has successfully restored stability across the country. With the new interim government led by a former Chief Justice, well-known for her long-standing fight against corruption, we have great hope for peace, prosperity, and good governance. Nepali society has demonstrated remarkable resilience for decades, and we strongly believe that with this resilience and competency, Nepal will swiftly rise and shine. However, it is essential that we receive the continued and increased support of our close ally countries, such as the UK, and their societies, during our process of advancement.
With best regards,
Chandra Kumar Ghimire
