Jajarkot Earthquake Response, February 2024: The Britain-Nepal Society (UK) Supports Distribution of Fibre Blankets to Earthquake-affected Households

In February 2024, the Britain-Nepal Society, in partnership with Impact Schools Nepal, distributed 300 fibre blankets to families in hard-to-reach rural areas of Shivalaya Rural Municipality, Jajarkot, affected by the recent earthquake. This critical intervention, carried out in close coordination with local authorities, prioritised households with children, women, and girls, as well as those from marginalised backgrounds awaiting support. The response involved navigating challenging terrains to reach the most vulnerable but brought essential warmth and hope to the heart of the affected community in Jajarkot. Thank you to our members in the UK for supporting this meaningful initiative!

Auction for BNS Relief Fund

We have been gifted a further 2 pictures, many of you will remember we had 2 on display at the Annual Supper in 2021.

They are a pair of beautiful signed original pastels of a Stupa in Gunsa village in East Nepal (55x40cm), and a busy Square before the earthquake (63×49). They were painted by the renowned mountain artist Lincoln Rowe. Lincoln Rowe is well known in climbing circles for his fabulous paintings of, among others, Kanchenjunga and Everest. He is also well known for his landscapes and golfing scenes!

These framed originals are believed to have been painted in the 80s.

Those attending the Annual Supper on will be able to view them, for those unable to attend a photo as attached will have to suffice.

You are invited to submit a closed auction bid (in excess of £75 each) to the Hon Secretary MJ Streather secretary@britainnepalsociety.org by Friday 8th April 2022 (The successful applicant will need to liaise with MJ to arrange either pick MJ, or to arrange suitable carriage from MJ’s home address).

Any proceeds from this auction will be added to the continuing BNS Relief account.
